I built a shelving unit and added chests to all 3 layers. I can use vanilla hoppers or a mod's pipes (tested with EnderIO conduit and Storage Link Cables from Simple Storage Networks) to access any of the 3 levels from every face EXCEPT the block face where the blueprint was originally placed to build the unit.
