Rusty hatch border missing

I have the annoying rusty hatch bug that has been document here before. The border and the ladder for the hatch do not show.

Mc versions 1.12.2
Forge: 14.23.52847
Malisis core: 1.12.2 6.5.1
Doors: 1.12.2 7.3.0

Also no optifine but I do have better FPS: 1.4.8

This is a custom version of the "rustic waters" mod pack.

Removing better FPS seemed to have no effect nor did toggling through some of its algorithms.
