(This is a crosspost of a suggestion i had in supps discord)

A while back while playing with a friend. I was at building the base while he went on a mining trip. However he died while mining and since he didnt had his atlas, he couldnt remember where exactly he died. So he left the game and installed journey map and slowly made his way to his corpse to recover his items.

I think an option to disables the atlas from being dropped upon death would be beneficial to players who explore perhaps a bit too much. (perhaps an option that prevents you from dropping your recovery compass would be great too.)

Like Imagine traveling to a woodland mansion, spending up to an hour and more walking there, finally arriving and then dying on your way back. Cant remember where you died in a 10,000 blocks journey? Too bad.
