Random map filling (Fabric)

When I add empty maps or to the atlas, it's filling random tiles around the last one updated, is it normal ? I would expect it to map the places I enter in, the fact that it doesn't kinda ruins it for me :/...
It maps stuff around you. If you use a map with a small scale and it only mapped the one you were in, then if you were not standing on the exact center of the map you would see all white around you in the minimal except for the map you are standing in
I'm not sure to understand, sorry, but maybe it's my english ; my thought was, since I can add empty maps (paper, in my case) to the atlas, I assumed it was a way to pre-fill the atlas so it would map around me as I move, as a classic minimap would. But apparently it's not meant to be that way, correct ? It justs fills around me as you say, I don't get in what pattern and what really is the point of it. Is it because I use 1:1 scale maps or something ?
No that's exactly what it does. it fills maps as you go. Try it out in survival with a few maps and you'll see what i mean
Ah. Well no, it doesn't... it happens sometimes if I'm lucky but usually it seems to chose what tiles are gonna be mapped before I even move (I see it partially map an adjacent tile, even though I'm not in it). If I fill a lot of paper, yes, eventually it covers where I go, but that's a hell of a waste because I would need something like 9 or 12 papers to cover 3 tiles worth of my travel if I explore in one direction :/
It has to map stuff around you not just the one you are in otherwise it will look really bad and you wouldn't be able to see past the map you are in. Just feed it enough maps and it will work fine
And all the maps it uses are because they are in view range and they will be drawn on tour minimap when you rotate
Oh ok, I get it. I'd still wish it would do it another way but hey, it's still very good ^^ thank you for your time
Which other way would you like? Any way that is not what's currently there will leave gaps in the map and minimap would have big holes in it unless you are using the discrete config with rotation off. And even then would work annoyingly as one would have to constantly cross Mao boundies just to make sure stuff around you gets mapped aswell
