Overview:
A large majority of the event code is overly complex and disgusting looking, this code could certainly use an overhaul and simplification, the current code is riddled with potential bugs and other problems that are really hard to diagnose and fix due to the general complexity of the code.

During the simplification, the code should be documented to make navigation much simplier.
