[7.0.0.70] Elite/Ultimate Mechanical Pipe crafting recipes don't fit upgrade pattern (Bug or feature?)

The third and fourth tier of fluid pipes appear to use various item pipes instead of the previous tier of fluid pipe in their recipes.
Elite Mechanical Pipe (4266:6 in my save) are crafted with Reinforced Alloy surrounded by 8 Logistical Transporter (4266:9) instead of Advanced Mechanical Pipe (4266:5).
Ultimate Mechanical Pipe (4266:7) are crafted with Atomic Alloy surrounded by 8 Restrictive Transporter (4266:10) instead of Elite Mechanical Pipe (4266:6).
The similarity with the upgrade path for cables, basic > advanced > elite > ultimate, leads me to believe this is a case of using the wrong damage value / metadata in the recipe definitions.
