Transporter performance issues.

After a server has been running for a while, it's tick rate drops to ridiculously low rates. It is resolved by restarting the server. However, getting a jvisualvm sampler snapshot shows the following:

After a bit more debugging, it appears there was a ridiculous amount of items inside the transporters, how that much items got into it in the first place is beyond me because supposedly the transporters will not accept items unless they have somewhere to put it yes?

Edit: And by ridiculous, I mean it dropped nearly 7000 entities on the ground when i broke a single pipe,

It is possible under certain conditions for transporters to accept items without places to go, most likely there was some form of machine backlog that allowed for them to keep accepting items.
