There is also so much lag when scrolling through the creative tab for mekanism that it gets stuck half way through scrolling , and will not go any further . This is from all the portable tanks BTW .

default config setting should probably set the tanks to disabled in NEI and creative mode. as it's only really a single item that can be crafted, having (potentially) hundreds load up in NEI or creative menu is useless (except for checking for potential rendering errors that may arise in-game), but for the normal user, prefilled-tanks should probably be disabled. unless theres a good reason otherwise that i'm missing. (i just ran into this issue when re-creating my custom pack with newest versions of mods and forgot what was causing it till stumbling on this_)... not blaming mekanism for all the NEI lag-causing issues, as many mods cause lag in NEI. inpurecore helps a lot with its culling features though.

Also noticed significant lag once an ore factory got fully upgraded at 5x. but unfortunately i got no idea how to improve that.As it's likely caused by there being so many extra function calls being processed.

I can confirm this, probatly because of custom item renderer.

I'd thought about putting in a config option to disable all the tanks - would it be better to have an NEI subset you could disable? Or would that not help?

Yes a option to disable the viewing of them in NEI, and the creative tab for Mekanism would be nice in the config . Not totally disabled like you could still craft them , but just not viewable .
I like to play in creative a lot so I am in the creative tab , and NEI a lot for items , and as it stands right now its unbearable when it comes to scrolling. I do love what you guys are doing with mekanism ,and I plan on donating to you guys real soon .

By far my favorite mod . I have been a fan since the beginnings . If I had one wish for this mod though it would be to fix the FPS lag with the 5x ore processing . :(

Well when i turned tanks off in config the prob was 100% fixed . So i don't know whats causing your problem .
