When accessing Crock Pot recipes in JEI, the background images are not darkened, but the text IS lightened, making it hard to read:

JEI uses texture atlases, those are not supported by Mindful Darkness. Vanilla has migrated to atlases for most gui textures as well as of 1.20.2+, so support must come anyways for those new versions and will be backported when ready.
