Is there an existing issue for this?

  • I have searched the existing issues.

Are you using the latest MineColonies Version?

  • I am running the latest beta/release version of MineColonies for my Minecraft version.
I am also running the latest versions of other mods that are part of my problem.

Did you check on the Wiki? or ask on Discord?

  • I checked the MineColonies Wiki and made sure my issue is not covered there. Or I was sent from discord to open an issue here.

What were you playing at the time? Were you able to reproduce it in both settings?

  • Single Player
  • Multi Player

Minecraft Version

1.21

MineColonies Version

1.1.995

Structurize Version

1.0.779

Related Mods and their Versions

  1. NeoForge 21.1.129
  2. BlockUI 1.0.200
  3. Domum Ornamentum 1.0.213

Current Behavior

Quests become unable to be accepted / completed. Quest giver loses quest icon (question mark / exclamation mark) and quest only stays visible in quest book. Immediately goes into the main menu (mood, inventory, ect). Colonists can still talk about other things (rain bothering them, food shortage, ect)

Expected Behavior

Questgiver should remember they have a quest, lose their quest altogether, or reset their quest progress

Reproduction Steps

I am afraid I do not know how to reproduce the bug, I tried switching between the old and new Minecolonies versions to no avail

This was the situation when I noticed it:
Most colonists had died previously due to a skeleton ambush. I was rushing to build the tavern, not realising there was a quest for it. After noticing the quest in the questbook (tavern was finished by then), I went to the person in question (a guard). They had neither a question mark above their head, nor their quest story to tell.

Thinking the guard might be bugged due to the tavern already being built, I cheated in some goggles to give to the builder, whose quest I had accepted previously. Upon talking to them, the same bug was observed. No dialogue (other than to complain about it raining), no question mark, nothing to indicate they had a quest.

Anything else?

My builder was asking for goggles before the update, after I updated the quest book still tells me they want the goggles, but trying to interact with them just brings up the normal menu, no dialogue or quest completion.

I also cannot accept any new quests. My guard has the "A roof over the ___" quest according to the quest book, but I cannot accept it. Same issue as the builder, no dialogue, just the default interaction menu.

Neither of the two have a question mark icon above their head, it appears as though they have 'forgotten' that they had a quest.

I asked them to open the issue cos I legitimately have no idea how to troubleshoot the quests =)

Someone else on discord reported yesterday that their quests stopped working as well, but there's no more info than that from them (just they stopped working)

After a bit of testing I figured out the following extra information:

  • The issue is not directly related to the book, creating a new one and linking it to the colony continues to show the quests in the book
  • After the quest giver dies, a new colonist will take their quest. This quest is not bugged and can be accepted and completed without further issue

I believe an unkown event caused the existing quests to be in a state of limbo, where they technically exist, butt the colonist did not know it existed, or the system handling quests could not give it to them. I have not yet been able to reproduce this issue further
