BUG - Server crashes every time we place a Town Hall

  • I am running the latest alpha version of MineColonies and Structurize for my Minecraft version.
  • I checked the MineColonies/Structurize wiki and made sure my issue is not covered there.
  • I made sure that this issue is not a duplicate of any existing issue.

Context

  • Minecraft Version: 1.16.4
  • MineColonies Version: minecolonies-0.13.566-ALPHA-universal.jar (Also tried minecolonies-0.13.557-ALPHA-universal.jar which is the default for modpack v 2.5.1)
  • Structurize Version: structurize-0.13.104-ALPHA-universal.jar . Couldn't use latest alpha as when we load this in client, it says the latest alpha requires this structurize version.
  • Related Mods and their Versions: We are using the 2.5.1 version and the 2.5.1 server files that aren't on Curse yet but were sent to us on your Discord. We were previously using v2.4 but we had this same issue. We then moved to 2.5.1 to try and fix it but we still have the problem.

Expected behavior

The server not to crash.

Actual behavior

Every time we place a Town Hall and then hit Create Colony, the server crashes after 1 minute. During this minute of uptime we can't do anything (break blocks, open chests etc.), we're just waiting for the server to crash.

We were told it could be a render distance issue. We tried changing server render distance from 3 to 8 and the bug still happened. We then tried 10 and it still happened.

We also tried changing the 'Dynview' mod settings. We tried min and max render settings as 3 and 8 respectively. Then 8 and 8. Then 10 and 10. Each time we still get the same crash.

The person testing this had their client render distance set to 12.

We also had several players experiencing this exact same bug all over the world, so placing them far away in different locations didn't help.

NOTEs: 1) It seems to sometimes not occur placing Town Halls/creating colonies in creative mode. Not sure if this is relevant.
2) This world we are using was originally a singleplayer world and has been for approx. 1 month. We are turning this singleplayer world into a server. Again, not sure if this is relevant.

UPDATE: We have no tried so many different versions and combinations, deleting the colony and starting over, loading up a fresh new world on the same seed and making a colony (which works) but then making a second colony with another account causes the same crash.

Steps to reproduce the issue

  1. Load up server
  2. Place town hall
  3. Hit 'Create Colony'. Then our server crashes (sometimes it crashes just by placing the Town Hall)

Issue was fixed. So we had increased the minnimum distance between colonies from 8 (default) to 42 chunks. Turns out that was the issue and going back to 8 worked.

Side Note: We weren't trying to make any towns within this 42 chunk radius but yeah it still wasn't working
