I noticed that villagers can't climb ladders but can climb stairs. It's not a huge issue. It just would be nice to have.

It would be nice to have villagers climb ladders. I have been making some smaller builds that are too small to add a staircase in and ladders would be more appropriate. In creative mode, I've tested the villagers ability to climb ladders and it is zero.

Describe alternatives you've considered
All I can do with this is make staircases. There's no other alternative.
