On my minecraft the skins for villagers don't show up.. I looked it up but as far as i know nobody has had this problem.. I tried re-installing the mod. What do i do?!
I am having an issue that sounds very similar. Are you using Minecraft-1.6.4 and MCA-3.6.1? That's my setup and the skins of all my villagers turn into the purple/black "missing texture". :/ I re-installed it having the same issue, and I toyed with moving the .PNG files around in the MCA folders to see if it was called wrong but that wasn't it either. I'm going to try downloading it again but this time from the mirror.
Yeah the mirror didn't change anything. I'm installing Optifine as a last ditch effort.
I'm using Minecraft-1.6.4 and MCA-3.6.1, which I believe is the most recent for 1.6.4 yeah. It was the latest download offered on your website at least.
Is there anything else you need/ would like to know? I want to help out to the best of my ability.
Start up your game, go to a villager who doesn't have a skin, and exit the game. Then post the ForgeModLoader-client-0.log file (in your .minecraft folder) to a site like Pastebin and give me the link. :)

Ok, I was attempting to start a new world in creative to spawn them in to test it and I couldn't get the spawn eggs out without the creative menu crashing the game (render bug in another mod [chisel]) so I removed optifine to see if that'd fix anything and when I got the eggs the textures were fine .__.
Anywho here's the paste (it's massive just a warning, pastebin said it was too big)

Maybe installing/removing optifine did it! Thanks for your response regardless :)
it didnt work.. i had installed optifine alongside MCA and it was causing crashes and glitches so i unistalled optifine and the skins still do not work..
