I married one of my children off to another villager and gave them cake, villager held the baby for awhile then it vanished like it never existed. no error messages or anything just. gone

You are on the wrong mod, this repo is for MCA Reborn (Minecraft 1.16.5+) :)
MCA is no longer under development.
