[Suggestion] Setting to lower the mining speed

It would be nice to be able to set a certain (lower than maximum) speed for mining all blocks, as in no matter how hard it is it will be mined with the same speed provided it could be mined with said speed at maximum. What I mean is to be able to mine stone and netherrack slower without slowing down the mining speed of the ores and obsidian if their mining speed is slower or equal to the one set. Efficiency 5 is too fast for me when mining stone but highly desirable when mining obsidian. Being able to set a constant mining speed for all the blocks would make it easier to mine without making random undesirable holes in walls and floors.
Yes, a higher minimum break speed. Frankly I've been wanting this as a global game option forever for pickaxes. A simple menu toggle option to remove the "feature" of breaking 2-3 blocks with one click.
It doesn't solve the problem. There are blocks that take forever to mine, which require higher levels of efficiency and blocks like stone that break instantly in multiples. This means that when you mine an obsidian block then you are likely to break 2-3 blocks behind and around it before you stop. Your solution is to switch between efficiency levels whenever you want to mine something hard. In vanilla I would carry two pickaxes, one for casual mining and the other for harder blocks, switching between which is instant. This solution however defeats the purpose of mining laser.
Moreover the problem is way worse here than in a vanilla pickaxe due to range. With vanilla tools you will mine around 2-3 blocks depending how far you are standing. With mining laser an instant of inattention results in 5-10 blocks that are mined out. This requires you to fill in the gaps if they happen in the floor before proceeding onward.
Have you tried turning on precision mode? It stops mining after breaking 1 set of blocks until you release and press right click again.
Yes, it is great when making sure that the rooms I mine out are precisely mined, but when mining for resources it is too much clicking. I would rather mine out the floor every so and often, then fill it in before continuing.
You can disable the efficency levels in on the right in the gadget settings but I don't think it would make much sense to allow for levels of efficency but then to add a cap? just use less levels of efficency? under your logic this is also an issue with MC native tools?
So, I can see how it might not be ideal having to toggle precision mode on and off a lot for larger scale work. Here's two different thoughts on how to maybe improve the feature:
- What if precision mode was on a timer, so after breaking one block it will wait maybe 7 ticks before breaking each successive block.
- Alternatively, see above, but only apply the wait once, so you can single click break for precision, or hold down the key and only have one slight delay before going at full speed.
I like option 2 best, to the point where I wouldn't even need a mode button to ever disable it. It would come naturally. Either should be fairly easy to implement. Heck, even making it a separate mode would be doable.
Stay awesome guys.
