Thanks for the suggestion! The only issue I see with implementing something like that is: what if the player suddently starts moving after landing. Perhaps we just cut the landing animation or implement some sort of transition animation.

You could do something like what fancy pants does, where the player throws their hands into the ground to help absorb impact before scrambling to their feet. A bit like free runners.
