Bees, butterflies, crabs, crickets, dragonflies, fireflies, flies, maggots, roaches, and snails all stop rendering when more than 6-10 blocks away from them. They don't despawn, as they're back when you reapproach them. Ants, oddly enough, do not have this problem.
