When using the steam drill on a waystone it drops 2 waystones. This is because it breaks the top and bottom piece and drops both. Any way of maybe checking for a double block and only dropping 1?

The steam drill got fully rewritten with the move to NeoForge. Hopefully this is not a problem anymore.
