The jetpack and jet boots store fall damage. So you instantly die upon touching the ground. I've seen this issue before, with IC2 jetpacks. Makes it completely unusable (technically, I could adjust shock absorbers to be op, but bad solution). The mod Iron Jetpacks seems to have figured out a fix, if someone wants to look at their code.
