Will the color of a dyed sheep show even when it's sheared?

This is the default on Bedrock, and there are several datapacks and mods that enable this feature on Java. Will your mod work with them, or implement this functionality on its own?

Sheep will now show their dye colour when sheared by default in the upcoming 1.3.0 update.
