Light Overlay moving with cursor
Enwarnung opened this issue ยท 0 comments
Summary
When using OptiFine HD U J1 alongside MoreOverlays 1.23.1 in a Forge 1.21.1 environment (forge-1.21.1-52.0.24), the LightOverlay feature in MoreOverlays does not stay on the blocks and instead moves dynamically with the cursor. This issue affects gameplay in both singleplayer and multiplayer modes, making it difficult to view accurate light levels consistently. Notably, the issue does not occur when MoreOverlays is installed without OptiFine.
Environment
- Minecraft Version: 1.21.1
- Forge Version: forge-1.21.1-52.0.24
- OptiFine Version: OptiFine HD U J1
- MoreOverlays Version: MoreOverlays 1.23.1
- Affected Modes: Singleplayer and Multiplayer
Steps to Reproduce
- Install Forge 1.21.1-52.0.24.
- Add OptiFine HD U J1 and MoreOverlays 1.23.1 to the
mods
folder. - Launch Minecraft and open either a singleplayer or multiplayer world.
- Activate the LightOverlay feature in MoreOverlays.
- Move the cursor across the screen and observe the behavior of the LightOverlay.
Expected Result
The LightOverlay should remain fixed on blocks, displaying light levels accurately and not moving with the cursor.
Actual Result
The LightOverlay moves with the cursor instead of staying anchored to the blocks. This makes it difficult to determine correct light levels, as the overlay does not provide a stable view.
Additional Notes

options.txt
, yet the problem persists. - Reproducibility: This issue consistently occurs with both OptiFine HD U J1 and MoreOverlays 1.23.1 installed but does not occur when MoreOverlays is used alone.
- Game Mode: The issue is present in both singleplayer and multiplayer, indicating it is not restricted to one game mode.
