Cant change morph

I would kill a normal mob such has a cow. it will morph but when i press ` it would pop up my username and Steve. i can morph back into Steve but i cant morph back into cow or anything. I'm using 1.6.4, if you need more info i will respond as fast as i can.
You're supposed to hit [] not `
