I have installed this mod and It's not working, I don't understand why though so if you can tell me... why
I really would like to try this mod and really like what I see I just can't use it.

Yes I did use fabric api I tried that just now, still with it not working

so... what does this mean

Click the mods button on the main menu and see if the mod shows up there. This will tell us whether the mod has been installed properly or not.

Oh I'm using fabric I think thats a forge thing

You're trying to use the Forge version of Nature's Compass with the Fabric loader. Use the Fabric version of Nature's Compass instead.

Again, we still need to ensure that the mod is loaded. Install this Fabric mod and then check for Nature's Compass in the mod menu.
