This is two different feature requests wrapped into one, but bear with me.

First, 3D biomes were added in 1.18, and Nature's Compass seems to struggle with them a bit. Attached is a screenshot of /locate compared with the Nature's Compass, which I think demonstrates the difference effectively. I've also noticed this with biome mods like Amplified Nether, in which the compass will point to the nearest selected biome in the vertical chunk, not necessarily the closest overall.

Secondly, I think the mod could be highly improved with the addition of searching by biome type. For example, vanilla Minecraft has three biomes categorized as "mesa," which can make it more difficult to search if you're just looking for a generic mesa biome. When adding in additional biome mods (often used with Nature's Compass), it can make it difficult to find the biome type you're looking for.
