...why can't this stuff happen when I test before releasing ?

This is on the list to be looked at, thanks for the report.

Unable to reproduce in testing without removing BaseMetals from the instance. At this time BaseMetals is required for NetherMetals and EndMetals to function. We are working to move to a standalone library-mod that will become required, so BaseMetals is not, currently, flagged to Forge as required but it is listed on Curse as such.

Just noticed that neither @knoxhack or @jriwanek have marked that BaseMetals is required (right now) in the project descriptions... I don't think I have access to those to change it, but not only is BaseMetals required, you'll also need MMD OreSpawn for the first start-up - you can then remove it if you've got something else doing ore generation and change the 'B:using_orespawn' flag in BaseMetals.cfg to "false"
