It would be nice to have the option (either in the config or as a tag) to enable items from other mods to be integrated with NoTreePunching. Let's say for example that i'm using a mod that adds chainsaws that are very useful for quickly cutting down trees and gathering wood, but when i use said mod together with NoTreePunching suddenly cutting down trees with the chainsaws is alot slower and when you do cut down the trees you don't get any wood, because NoTreePunching does not recognize the chainsaws as valid "treefelling tools" like regular axes and thinks that using the chainsaws to cut down the trees is the same as just punching the trees.

Sorry if my explanation was poor, but hopefully you got the gist of what i was trying to say. Basically i'm suggesting the option to integrate certain items from other mods that NoTreePunching might not recognize for their intended use (for example a chainsaw for quickly cutting down trees and gathering wood or a mining drill for mining more quickly and effectively than regular pickaxes)

While this is not out of the question, I'm very curious as to which mod item is not functioning correctly. If the mod item works as said tool without adding No Tree Punching, I have tried to make this mod as clever as possible when determining if an item is a tool. So if this is a hypothetical "In the event that there is a bug I would like a solution to it" then sure, but if there's an actual issue here, please point it out and I can look at it specifically (as there's probably a resolution either on my or the other mod's side.)

So, what is the goal here? Is there a specific item from a specific mod that isn't working? Or is this just for the hypothetical use of a config option?

Hi there alcatrazEscapee, thanks for replying and as for your question, the reason why i actually made this issue in the first place was because the "chainsaw" that i had used as a hypothetical example of a treefelling tool was actually not a hypothetical example. I was actually talking about the Chainsaw from the TechGuns mod, but since i figured that since it was almost certainly not the only tool from another mod that NoTreePunching might not recognize as a valid treefelling tool, i decided to just use it as a hypothetical example. (As i had figured that it would make things easier for other people in the future to just have a config option for enabling NoTreePunching integration with certain modded tools that NoTreePunching might not normally recognize as actual tools, rather than having said people pester you to add integration every time they discover a new modded tool that does not play nice with NoTreePunching.)

Sorry if all of this was confusing, looking back i probably should have just told you that it was specifically the Techguns Chainsaw (aswell as the TechGuns Mining Drill) that wasn't working together with NoTreePunching properly, instead of using a vague example. Either way it's not that much of a big deal anyways, but if you feel like it you can add NoTreePunching integration with the Techguns Chainsaw and Mining Drill.

What I'm interested in is less so "add explicit compat with tech guns", It's more so "let me see what on earth they are doing and if it's something I can expect to happen" (e.g. the modder in question doing something dumb but predictable, or if they're just doing something dumb). In that case I'll see if there's an automatic thing I can do to fix this and any other similar issues in the future, and if necessary just make it a tag.

That said... I cannot find this mod nor it's source anywhere. More questions:

  • Is this the mod in question? If so, I am unable to find a 1.15 or newer version and am not going to be supporting 1.12.
  • If not, can you send me a link (curseforge or otherwise) to the mod in question?
  • If not if not, do you know if the mod in question has visible source anywhere.

Yeah it is the first one that you listed, but since you said that you are not supporting 1.12.2 anymore, you don't need to do anything. Thanks for the help anyways, feel free to close this issue now if you want.
