When right clicking on the top of wood with an axe, it just strips the wood, and I cannot get planks from them.

I am using Forge 40.1.68 on 1.18.2, with the mod version .18.2-5.0.3

This is to be expected, plank stripping is a vanilla mechanic. Craft planks with the appropriate axe or saw.
