So I really wanted to use mostly just the metals, flint, and wood cutting part of this mod, and discovered I can't actually melt tin without the charcoal forge. I don't have your version of Copper Ore enabled, but Im sure other people would encounter the same problem.

The forge will add recipes based off the ore dictionary, so if there isn't any ore registered to "oreCopper" then it won't generate a recipe. I don't see a situation in which disabling NTP's copper ore would affect anything to do with the Forge.

What versions of forge / NTP are you using?
Can you explain how exactly you disabled NTP's copper ore?
Do you have any other mods adding a copper or tin ore that you want to use with NTP's forge?

Apologies I misspoke, I meant adding furnace recipes for No Tree Punching versions of metals, so that when removing furnace recipes is disabled in config, it will work normally under vanilla minecraft crafting.
