The mod Project: Vibrant Journeys (PVJ) introduces a block called projectvibrantjourneys:birch_hollow_log, which acts as a decorative variant of the birch log. However, this hollow log seems to override the default log block in certain recipe or tag contexts.

Specifically, PVJ either removes or replaces the standard minecraft:birch_log → birch planks recipe with a version that only applies to its own hollow log variant.
