I received a warning when downloading the mod, which stated "suspicious download blocked." Is this mod safe to download?

Downloaded where and using which browser? Had that in the past that some AVs randomly flag minecraft mods for a few days till they realize that it's wrong.
On a note: Only ever download from Modrinth/Curseforge/the official Github. All other sites like 9minecraft are scam sites and there the mods might be infected with viruses.
