My contraption (build outside a claim) entered a claim, and it didn't become items, it just became blocks

So I had a nether mining contraption which entered someone else's claim and instead of becoming items it just became blocks even though I am not a part of that claim, the blocks that were already there weren't replaced, but the contraption blocks became items but the rest just stayed there
