I was thinking about the Vacuum Hopper to be Shift-Rightklicked with an empty hand (or some kind of Wrench) to change its mode. In this mode it is still be able to suck up items that are directly thrown into the block, and it still moves stacks at a time, but it won't attact items in the surroundings anymore. This would allow them to be used e.g. as stacks-at-a-time item transport without near items being attacted what is sometimes annoying, for example if you are moving dropped items but nearby is a mobfarm and its items get attacted and stuck just because you want to have a fast item pipe nearby.
