It would appear that fans do not respond to a directly connected MFR Rednet cable, only vanilla redstone trail.

Confirmed. I, for one, would like to see this addressed.

Yay! I was wondering why my fans weren't working. Looking forward to update. :)

Ditto for 1.3-snapshot-435. Same result using EnderIO's redstone conduits and insulated redstone conduits. Blocks like these where it really only reacts to a redstone dust trail pointing directly to it, or a strongly powered adjacent block, are the bane of many a technical mod player :/
