When you have an upgraded luggage in your inventory along with any other block that does not take up the full block (itemducts, fluiducts, magmatic dynamo etc) all items become dark coloured, almost black.

I found this bug in the modpack Magic Farm 2.

NOTE : In the second screenshot i have the item picked up with the cursor.

Can this still be reproduced in most recent snapshot?

Does this happen with any other items in place of that engine? From a different mod perhaps?

It's very probable this bug was fixed months ago, when I fixed few OpenGL state leaks. But it now impossible to determine, since this report has no version information.
