1.20.1 - game crashes when optifabric is in "mods" folder

On 1.20.1
Minecraft crashes on start, if you put ANY mods in "mods" folder.
If you remove optifabric, everything works fine.
Also, optifabric only supports an old fabric api version.
Trying to put newer versions results in broken fonts, and the game crashes when you join a world.
#1123 for fabric api it’s known, as for the exit code post logs. I’m using mods perfectly fine
