You can't use the search box on jei will optifabric is in your mods when you take it out you can use the search bar again

Well I am at a loss but for anyone else that may join the issue I will summarize what is being used:
Fabric Loader 0.15.10
[1.20.4] Fabric API 0.97.0+1.20.4
Optifabric v1.14.3
jei-1.20.4-fabric-17.3.0.49.jar

fabric loader I'm using is fabric-loader-1.20.4 and the version of Optifabric is v1.14.3 which is for 1.20.4

There are several fabric loader versions that will work with 1.20.4 so will need the specific 1 you are using

loader version is 0.15.10 i was looking in the fabric installer for this
