I just keep dying to wither damage- doesnt matter if im in the light or dark or underground or what- i just start dying.

Not sure if I'm just dumb/missing something, but I can't find anymore information on what aspect may be causing it via wiki/google :(

Case closed: I am simply extremely dumb :) Didnt realize phase was a toggle bc i don't read instructions properly
