I am unable to even get the mod in minecraft

I have minecraft Java edition and was told this is the origins mod for java edition, and I am unable to get the mod up in minecraft, it keeps giving me an error when I try to import the mod. Can anyone tell me if I need to install something like a file converter?
Hey Divno! Please attach a screenshot (Post an image in Imgur or Reddit and link that) of your error. For now, please check if you are using Fabric, this mod DOES NOT SUPPORT FORGE. To install Fabric, download and install the Fabric Launcher (here), then download Fabric API (here) and place it in your Mods folder (default is C:\Users<your name>\AppData\Roaming.minecraft\mods). Thank you!
Ah ok I didn't have the fabric launcher installed, but I'm not completely understanding how to make the fabric launcher work. I've installed it and put the API in the mods folder and tried the mod, but the mod did the same as last time, it didn't work. I'm new to installing mods so sorry if I take up your time.
