Not to make them more powerful but as a nice point in world building because they come from the end. So they should naturally be able to eat it and gain more from it because its a plant native to where they come from. Also the Fruit itself uses magical energies that Enderians use to teleport all the time so it would make sense that because they have full control of this energy the fruit does not teleport them a short distance in a random direction when they eat it. You can make the fruit fill an Enderian more or instead make it give a positive effect to the Enderian for eating it.
