Playing 1.20.1 and I cannot create dirt paths or till soil with the paxel. No error message or anything, just the paxel looking like it's charging the right click action.
Additionally, vacuum upgrade does not place items into inventory.

you need the separate upgrades for Tilling / Paving, as for the vacuum upgrade yeah items aren't going directly to my inventory as well.

These are the upgrades available to me. None of them allow tilling or paving.

I also have the vacuum upgrade and it is not working

what version are you using? the last 3 icons in my screenshot are the upgrades. I'm running 1.0.12

I am on Minecraft 1.20.1, Piercing Paxels version 1.0.12. I am using EMI to view available recipes. I include that in case there is some sort of strange interaction.

The blue upgrades aren't available on forge due to compatibility issues.
Vacuum I haven't gotten a chance to look at but it is a known forge issue.

Thank you for the information. It's annoying that it's a forge only issue. I hope that it doesn't cause any pain to solve.
