Describe the feature

With the place piece, it would be amazing to have the ability to specify what direction or state the placed block would have. Things like stairs, and signs that would greatly benefit from this.

Reasons why it should be considered

As more tile or complex blocks/subparts are added to modded Minecraft, the ability to specify a particular state of the block would be amazing. It would unlock a lot of possibilities for constructions and automations with drones.

My current use case is to construct a large build, which involves many blocks that are rather nit picky about directionality, or content, such as stairs and signs.

Additional details

Appreciate if this can be backported to at least 1.20.x if implemented (At time of writing anyway)

Also reminds me of Factorio with self replicating builds w/ drones, would be super cool if possible.
