I have a mod installed that requires FMP 244. ProjectRed keeps downloading 227. What this means, is that Project Red is incompatible with this other mod (Calclavia mod).

If everyone is using Deploader correctly (which ProjectRed is) then it
should not do that. Ask Calclavia

Also, if we disabled the auto download, then PR wouldn't work. How is that
a solution?

Lots of mods have prerequisite mod downloads; how would requiring Forge Multipart to be installed seperately be any different?

Like requiring ChickenBonesCore before Wireless Redstone CBE?

if you put 244 in manually, it should work fine.

I have brought the issue up with calclavia.

Resonant Induction requires FMP 244.

I think the problem may be related to using FMP 245; downgraded to 244 and at least the error changes to something non-conflict related.
