Can't grow stained saplings under glass.

I've got glass domes that I grow a number of vanilla and modded stuff, but i can't get stained saplings to grow. Can this be changed? I'm using Tinkers Construct's clear glass...

I've just noticed that I can't get stained saplings to grow without an unobstructed view of the sky in 435-30.
