This is also a problem with many Immersive Engineering blocks including the crate which loses its inventory when broken by Psi and not with any other tool(BluSunrize/ImmersiveEngineering#1513). It's also been reported to occur with ExtraUtils 2 blocks though I haven't tested this.

I don't think that saying we should just use a different tool is a reasonable solution. The break block spell should definitely drop the item intact as one would expect with any other tool. This is undoubtedly a bug and not the behavior anyone would reasonably expect.

Breaking IE conveyors with Break Block drops an item with an unlocalized name that, when placed, looks like a vertical conveyor with pink-and-black checkerboard textures on it.

Probably due to the breaking without silk touch or just general not vanilla player breaking but a special kind..

Try the silk touch breaking spell using collapse and light

Banners do not need silk touch to preserve their patterns.
Using Collapse to make the block fall on a non-solid block to make it drop is technically a bug.

If it were a bug, it would've been removed..

I'm pretty sure they use a special breaking, not a normal vanilla player breaking soo.. Dont expect NBT.. Why do you need NBT in the first place? You don't. You have picks, axes, and tools in general

And to complete, I just used Break Block on a Seared Tank (Tinkers) full of lava. And guess what? I got that lava back..
