charge spell does not work on stone?

On the most recent version of psi, downloaded with the curse launcher:
This spell is intended to be used with a charge spell bullet to collapse part of a cave ceiling onto an enemy. It traces a ray upwards from where the charge is and collapses three blocks on top of that position.
This spell, when put onto a charge bullet, does not affect stone, but does work on dirt. When put on any other bullet, it works on stone too.
I can't find anything in the documentation for this discrepancy so it looks like a bug.
another user said that this just crashes the game for them.
