1.17 (or somewhere around there, not sure the exact version) adds net.minecraft.client.gui.screens.InBedChatScreen as a separate screen class from the normal chat screen (net.minecraft.client.gui.screens.ChatScreen)

nevermind, seems like the gui announcement for chat still shows up fine with just publicguiannouncement installed. might be an incompatibility with a different mod i had installed
