Forges (The real-life metalworking station, not the mod loader)

In real life, a source of heat is often required to make metallic items like axe-heads and swords. Pyrotech's ignition machines make it uniquely positioned to transition this facet of tool-making to minecraft.
A forge would function similar to a worktable, with nine slots for holding items. However, in order for a forge to run, it would need to be fueled and ignited. The forge would take every crafting recipe involving metals, while the workbench and crafting table would lose these recipes. A hammer or tongs would be used to advance the crafting progress bar, with both tools required to actually finish the recipe.
Because metallic recipes would no longer be considered "crafitng" recipes, some kind of dual-purpose crafting table could be made as an end-game item. Crafting Machines from other mods could be classified as this dual-purpose block to help with cross-compatability.
Somewhat similar to Tinkers Forging where you need to heat ingots to a workable temperature and shape it on an anvil with a hammer?
