Here's some additional details and images and stuff, but I trust you know what I am talking about. It has been literal weeks since I found these pests growing, and despite going through the worldgen options for quark, I don't think I have found anything on them.

Okay, so I figured it out, but it was at the sacrifice of my Y elevation for the ice underground biome.

Anyhow, you should still consider fixing this by adding an option to not have ice rings spawn on the surface.

Just decrease the Y elevation of underground biomes.
