Substratum has... odd stair recipes for its metal blocks. You put 3 in, it gives 8. With your 4-stairs-to-3-blocks crafting, you can double the amount of stairs you get, which, of course, makes more blocks, etcetera etcetera. Maybe you could try to fix this?
