[1.15] Glass panes not rendered properly with vertical slabs

When you place glass panes in between vertical slabs (first image) they don't connect and form the full pane. Adding more vertical slabs so that they resemble a full block DOES make the pane connect (second image below), as does placing vertical slabs perpendicular to the panes (third image).
